Why join

Why carers join HBS

HBS gives independent carers a professional place to build a verified profile, show evidence clearly and connect with families looking for independent support through Personal Health Budgets, direct payments or private funding.

1

Build a professional verified profile

Show families your experience, support areas, availability, rates, DBS review status, references, training evidence and verification level.

2

Be seen by PHB families

HBS is focused on PHB, direct payment and private family-led support — not generic care job listings.

3

Stay independent

You set your own rate, choose your availability and decide which introduction requests you want to accept.

4

Show training evidence clearly

Upload certificates and evidence so HBS can review relevant training before badges or training summaries appear on your profile.

5

Access protected introductions

Introductions through HBS are logged and protected by HBS Introduction Terms before contact details are released.

6

Build longer-term opportunities

Families' needs change. Staying active on HBS can help you remain visible for future introductions that match your profile.

Transparent pricing

Set your own rate

Independent carers set their own hourly rate. HBS adds a transparent platform fee on top, shown clearly to families.

£27.00/hr

Your carer rate is never reduced. The HBS platform fee is added on top of your rate — it is not deducted from what you earn. In the example above, you receive your full £24.00/hr and the family sees a total of £27.00/hr.

What the fee supports

The platform fee helps maintain the platform, verification process, introduction flow, profile hosting, payment records, support hours records and future opportunity pipeline.

Next: Create your carer account and set your own rate — HBS shows your rate plus the transparent platform fee to families.

Fair for everyone

Protected introductions

Before contact details or meeting links are released, both the family and carer accept HBS Introduction Terms. This protects the platform and keeps introductions fair.

If a paid support arrangement begins following an HBS introduction, it should remain connected to HBS for the agreed introduction period.

Learn About Protected Introductions
  • Protects your verified profile
  • Keeps introduction records clear
  • Supports payment and earnings records where used
  • Helps keep future opportunities available
  • Reduces unfair bypassing of the platform

Next: Sign up to access protected introductions — both family and carer accept HBS Introduction Terms before contact details are released.

Training evidence

Show your training evidence and support experience

Carers can upload training certificates and request review for specialist support badges. HBS reviews evidence before displaying training summaries or badges on your profile.

Gold status requires HBS-recognised training or competency development through a verified trainer, approved provider or verified complex care nurse.

Training evidence review does not mean HBS clinically signs off ongoing care delivery.

Next: Create your account, upload your training certificates and HBS will review evidence before badges appear on your profile.

Earnings records

Clear earnings records where platform payments are used

Where HBS payment tools are used, independent carers can submit support hours for family approval. Once the family approves the submitted hours, payment can be processed through the platform and carers can view their earnings records. HBS does not employ carers and does not issue payslips. Carers remain independent and receive Earnings Statements showing approved platform earnings.

1

Submit Hours

Record support hours through your HBS carer dashboard and submit them to the family for approval.

2

Family-Approved Hours

Families review and approve submitted hours before payment is processed. This keeps the process clear and transparent.

3

Earnings & Payouts

View approved hours, pending payments, payout status and previous earnings in one place.

4

Earnings Statements
